Gerard Reitlinger (1900–1978) was an Austrian-born British art historian and writer, best known for his scholarship on art history, collecting, and the economics of art. Born in Vienna, he later settled in London, where he became an influential figure in the study of European painting and the art market.

Reitlinger wrote extensively on 19th- and early 20th-century art, with major works including The Economics of Taste and studies on the fate of art during the Nazi era. His research combined detailed historical documentation with insights into artistic trends, collecting practices, and the cultural context of artworks.
